These are among the key findings of a national survey of dating and relationships in the digital era, the first dedicated study of this subject by the Pew Research Center’s Internet Project since 2005.One in every ten American adults has used an online dating site or a mobile dating app.On one hand, a majority of online dating users agree that dating digitally has distinct advantages over other ways of meeting romantic partners: But despite these reservations, those who have personally used online dating themselves – or know someone who does – tend to have much more positive attitudes compared to those with little direct exposure to online dating or online daters.For instance, just 55% of non-users agree that online dating is a good way to meet people, while six-in-ten agree that online dating is more dangerous than other ways of meeting people.Meanwhile, the share of 55- to 64-year-olds who use online dating has doubled over the same time period (from 6% in 2013 to 12% in 2015).For young adults in particular, this overall increase in online dating usage has been accompanied by a dramatic increase in the use of mobile dating apps.Much of the 14 million increase in the white population involved whites of Hispanic origin.For example, respondents could identify themselves as white Hispanics, black Hispanics or as Hispanics in any of the other racial categories.
Due to the impact of Hispanics, the nation's fastest-growing group, the Census Bureau has previously estimated that whites will become the minority in the U. Due to calculations, however, it is more likely for a black child to be poor because they have a higher rate of poverty- 39.1 per cent as compared to 35 per cent for Hispanics- but there are more Hispanic children on the whole, tilting the statistics so that Hispanics take the unhappy title.Compared with eight years ago, online daters in 2013 are more likely to actually go out on dates with the people they meet on these sites.
